The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

Refrigerants are liquids stored in your air conditioner’s coils that cool and dehumidify indoor air. If we didn’t have refrigerants, we wouldn’t have air conditioning. For a long time, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, it will no longer be legal to produce R-22 as a result of its negative effects on the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo decrease environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now engineered to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and contains no chlorine, making it ozone-friendly. You can feel great about using this refrigerant in Vancouver because it’ll help make your cooling system perform efficiently, reliably and quietly, and offer the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was built anytime before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You might think about upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is ultimately phased out. The old refrigerant will become rare in the next few years, costing you more to use your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Air Pro Heating & Cooling LLC work with R-410A, so you can rest assured we have an AC or heat pump you can better rely on. Be sure to steer clear of”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
